And as insurance has grown as a key component to any economy, so too has the Data Management profession now encompassing many areas such as metadata management, data analysis, data warehousing, business intelligence, data governance, data modeling, etc.  \nThe focus of this session will be to: \nProvide a quick overview of the evolution and importance of data management to the insurance industry including the roles played by industry associations such as DAMA International, IDMA (Insurance Data Management Association), ACORD, and various state regulatory agencies\nProvide participants with some knowledge of how data management principles and best practices have been utilized by the insurance industry and how these principles and best practices can be exported to other industries\nMap the DAMA DMBOK to the insurance industry  \nExplore the current and future state of data management within the insurance industry
